I am a librarian.
Specifically, my name is Phoebe Ayers, and I work in a large science and engineering academic reference library, where I specialize in engineering and computer science information resources. There's not much on the web for computer science librarians; I hope this blog will over time become a useful collection of resources.
I also spend a lot of time talking, thinking about and presenting on Wikipedia. I've been contributing to Wikipedia for a long time, and I think that librarians have a lot to learn and a lot to offer to the site. Wikipedia isn't going anywhere anytime soon, and our patrons and students are using it. It's up to teachers and librarians to choose whether they want to help make it better or not. As a librarian and a Wikipedia contributor I hope to help bridge the gap that currently exists between these two groups -- after all, our missions are the same.
